Ellen Sheidline, a Russian artist goes by the name ‘Sheidlina’. It is safe to say that she has become an internet superstar with her skills. All thanks to her eerily surreal and unique photography concepts as well as her modeling gigs on Instagram.

Thinking Humanity

We like this berry much.

Mind-bending + Body-bending = Russian Artist, Sheidlina

If you check out this Russian artist’s profile, you will not hesitate in agreeing with. She has some of the most provocative, innovative and disturbing pictures from her photoshoot that you’ll ever see.

In the day and age where we’re all so used to seeing models posing and strutting in fancy clothes or lounging by a famous landmark spot, something like this is a daunting breath of fresh air.

This Russian artist is going places, hands down.

As you can see, her focus is mainly on strong candy colors that are combined with mystical elements. A true sight to behold. One of the things that clearly set the Russian artist, Ellen, apart from all others, is the fact that a huge amount of creativity, work, planning as well as technical know-how goes into all her photos.

A notable part of some of her work is that she is also able to shed light on social issues. These could swim around mental-health problems, social-media use, vegetarianism, and more.

The 25-year-old Russian artist now has over 4.5 million followers on Instagram, and is only growing more every day. She also writes articles, blogs, and is involved with various other photography projects.

You could say that her work spans from a range of bizarrely arm-twisting shoots that look like they’ve been shot inside a mental hospital, to a vegan road-kill scene involving a deer that is made of watermelon, and a jigsaw Kremlin.

Here are some of her notably remarkable pieces that will make you slightly uncomfortable but also strike a chord of wonderment –

In an interview with Kaltblut magazine, she said –

I realized that the main interest for my fans to follow me was my face. My selfies collected the greatest number of likes and comments and then I decided that the best way to preserve and multiply interest in me is to add myself to my idea. Today, normal selfies are the most unvalued photos, the public always waits for something unusual, they are absolutely not satisfied with just a photo. Everything sooner or later goes out of fashion: style, colors, even memes, but an idea will never become mainstream, it is eternal.

She was also asked a rather interesting question as to how she manages to separate her characters from her real-life persona. To which she replied:

For me, it was never a problem, in general, I’m very similar to the character that I created. Internet is a part of my life, especially now, when I’ve created my own exhibition, where everyone can take pictures in the style of my Instagram with interactive exhibits that repeat my photos.”

It truly is inspiring to see someone yielding the Instagram algorithm to its fullest potential with such breath-taking work.
