Faig Ahmed is known to fuse contemporary distortion and glitches with traditional weaving techniques to make one-of-a-kind rugs. His recent work titled “Doubts” was one of his largest pieces. It starts off by looking like one of the rugs with a classical form and pattern but halfway through, oozes into a huge puddle. The ornate pattern melts into an amorphous form and swirls of color on the ground.

The artist is from Baku, Azerbaijan. About a month before shut-downs all over due to COVID-19, he started “Doubts”.

“Because of the quarantine, we had to close our textile workshop several times and the artworks were put on hold. A few days ago, after seven months, ‘Doubts’ was finally finished. This carpet illustrates the end of hesitations: by destroying the intelligible geometrical forms of the patterns that overflow on the ground – this is the limit of doubts” he says.
Here are some other rugs by Faig Ahmed.

These rugs are surely a work of art and unconventional. We’d go out on a limb to say that these are worth collecting because of their uniqueness. Definitely something we’ve never seen before.
