People Are Choosing To Become Disabled By Choice And Calling Themselves ‘Transabled’.

First of all, what the actual f*@$. Okay, let’s get into this…
‘Transabled’ is a term for people who choose to be disabled. Just like transgender people, the ‘transabled’ feel one or more limbs of one’s body is not theirs. Is this a cause for concern? It surely is distasteful, to begin with. You’d be shocked to know that some people even go to the extent of getting illegal surgeries done.

Professor Alexandre Baril, a gender, and sexuality studies professor and defines transability as “the desire or the need for a person identified as able-bodied by other people to transform his or her body to obtain a physical impairment.”

Jewel Shuping, 30, from North Carolina suffers from Body Integrity Identity Disorder (BIID). It is a condition wherein able-bodied people feel the need to or feel that they are meant to be disabled. Shuping wanted to be blind, always. After finding a psychologist, who poured drain cleaner liquid into her eyes, she got what she desired. “My mother would find me walking in the halls at night when I was three or four years old,” she informed Daily Mail, about her condition. “By the time I was six I remember that thinking about being blind made me feel comfortable.”

She spent most of her childhood fantasizing about being blind. She’d spend hours staring directly at the sun or watching solar storms.

By the age of 20, she pretended to be blind and became fluent in Braille.
Her family decided to disown her after learning about her decision to go blind. Although, she had constant support from her former fiancé Mike.

Here’s another case in point. Chloe Jennings-White, a Cambridge University-educated research scientist wanted nothing to do with her legs. She has tried to hurt herself multiple times. According to reports, she believes both of her legs don’t really belong to her body. She cannot wait to be wheelchair-bound forever.

“Something in my brain tells me my legs are not supposed to work. Having any sensation in them just feels wrong,” she said.

Here’s what people had to say when this story became big on the internet. This angered people.

Well, it surely is one heck of a psychological downer that affects one’s health physically and emotionally.
