Enough time spent home, how about spending a weekend under the stars, amongst rescue elephants? The Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp & Resort (Jungle Bubbles) in Northern Thailand is providing a once-in-a-lifetime experience for you.
Located in the mountainous area of Chiang Rai, this luxurious resort has stunning ‘transparent bubbles’ suites called ‘Jungle Bubbles’ that are surrounded by an area that’s heavily visited by rescue elephants.
Think of domed transparent suites designed to give you blissful starry nights in the tropical forests. It is constructed in a high-tech polyester fabric that is able to withstand unpredictable weather conditions while keeping you comfortable.
Overlooking three countries, this suite offers a king-sized bed in a spacious bedroom (not transparent), with a living room lounge that’s just perfect for stargazing. Also, you can expect all the lavish and top of the line luxury touch to all these services; from plush bathrobes, fully stocked mini-bar to 24-hour in-dome dining service.
This suite’s highlight is obviously the cutie elephants. The resort features 160 acres of land where you can see elephants in their natural habitat. These elephants are rescued and are living in natural peace, just in case you thought you might be disturbing!
Anantara’s non-profit Golden Triangle Asian Elephant Foundation (GTAEF) cares for them. About 60 elephants were rescued from illegal camps, shows, or city streets, and placed in a serene, natural habitat.
You can also book a Walking with Giants tour. You will be accompanied by a vet or biologist on a walk learning about these gentle giants and watching them play in their environment.
Robert who handles the NGO team says in an interview, “In the wild, their entire lives are based around walking long distances and finding food. They have big brains, you have to keep them stimulated doing different things. You could just put them out there in a field, but they’ll stand in one spot all day.”
To book a stay at this Jungle Bubble, you will have to first book a room in a resort. And then you will have to reserve this bubble as an overnight activity. This activity costs around $585 a night for two people.
