Thanks to filmmaker Daniel Mercadante, rural landscapes have been turned into mystical and magical landscapes. All the credit goes to his long exposure photography series, Rainbow Road. In this collection of images, you can see a multicolored neon trail illuminating the landscape as it turns over quiet hills, runs through forest trees, and snakes itself around street corners.
These pictures with rainbows resemble a real-life Mario Kart race track.
The photographer ran across various landscapes and places with the rig as his camera—set to a slow shutter speed. This is what helped him capture the rainbow scenes.

He went on to explain, “After so many years focused on the moving image, I’ve struggled with singularly caught moments in still imagery—so I love how this project still requires images to be captured over 15sec-1 minute, so in some way they require the same passages of time that a shot in one of our short films might.”
