French Artist Creates A 28-Meter-High Optical Illusion On The Facade Of The Palazzo Strozzi Building

Artist JR

French artist JR installed a 28-meter-high optical illusion on the façade of the Palazzo Strozzi building in Florence. The objective behind this art is to keep people connected to the French culture during tough times like the COVDI-19 pandemic where many museums are still shuttered.

The new art installation is named La Ferita, meaning “The Wound” in Italian, pays homage to great classical works of art that have gone unseen and unappreciated for the whole year.

This massive collage is put on the façade of the building Palazzo Strozzi, and it references the calamities that cultural institutions like museums, libraries and cinemas, have faced over the past year.
