Apple has unveiled a slew of new items, including the AirTag, a small tracker that helps in the finding of lost keys and phones.
They connect to the company’s Find My app and help you keep track of everything you can attach them to, such as your backpack or suitcases (when we can travel again). After being rumored for some time, the products were officially unveiled at Apple’s Spring Loaded virtual product launch on 20th April.
The AirTag is available in one- and four-packs for $29 and $99, respectively. They’ll be available for purchase from April 30th.
Apple’s vice president of worldwide iPhone product marketing, Kaiann Drance, said: “We’re excited to bring this incredible new capability to iPhone users with the introduction of AirTag, leveraging the vast Find My network, to help them keep track of and find the important items in their lives.”
“With its design, unparalleled finding experience, and built-in privacy and security features, AirTag will provide customers with another way to leverage the power of the Apple ecosystem and enhance the versatility of iPhone.”
The AirTag is lightweight, and resilient to water and dust. It has a built-in speaker and a cover that can be used to replace the battery.
Connecting them is really easy. They connect via Bluetooth in the same way that AirPods do: simply bring it closer to your iPhone and it connects automatically.
Every object to which the AirTag is attached can have its own name, ensuring that you always know where your belongings are.
It will simply appear in the Find My app’s ‘new products’ tab once everything is set up. Users will then see where it is now or where it was last seen. If it is misplaced, the object may emit a sound to assist the user in locating it.
Other devices, such as a brand new iMac, were also unveiled by the tech firm.
