Seeing a dog as a lion in a zoo is the last thing you would expect, but that’s exactly what happened to visitors in a zoo in China. The visitors were left confused when they saw a golden retriever in a cage that was intended to accommodate an African lion.
Mr. Tang, the visitor said, “At first, we thought we had gone to the wrong place. But after walking around the cage, we realized it is where the lion should be housed. Is that an African lion? Is it because it hasn’t grown up yet? It looks familiar to me.”
A worker of the zoo explained to Tang that the cage had housed a lion in the past, however, the animal had been moved to another location.
“We are adjusting the animals’ accommodations, with the lion’s sign not taken down [from the cage] yet.”
However, Tang refused to accept this. He accused the zoo of selling tickets by promoting lions. He also said he found no lions anywhere else in the zoo.
Tang said, “The money for the ticket is a small deal. What matters [to] me more is that I don’t know how to explain the current situation to my kid.”
Well, this is not the first time it happened in China that a zoo tried to pass a dog as a lion. A similar incident happened in 2013, where a Chinese zoo replaced its genuine lion with a Tibetan mastiff dog.
