Bishnu Aryal spent years saving funds for his dream house. He saved up to $700,000 AUD ($542,045 USD) to pay for the Sydney plot and building this house. But a miscommunication with the developer Zac Homes has turned his dream into a nightmare. Aryal is now left with only half a house.

Aryal spoke to Nine News and said, “I called the supervisor and asked him what’s going on, why is the house like this?” And he said, ‘It’s a semi duplex, and I nearly fainted that day.”
“Where’s my house? I want the rest of my house. It’s not a free-standing house, it’s not a duplex, it’s half a house. And it looks embarrassing.”
According to the reports, the agreement between the developer and Aryal was for a free-standing home in Edmondson Park.

When Aryal went to check the progress of the house, he was shocked to see that they had built a duplex on the half plot. Leaving a massive windowless grey exterior wall on the side.
The house now looks bizarre and is not exactly what Aryal was expecting.

“They promised us that the house will be ready in one year’s time, but we waited for three long years.”
“When we came to see the progress of the building, we saw our building was different to what we were expecting.”
Zac Homes said ‘the original agreement was made for a free-standing home and that Aryal had sufficient opportunity to pull out of the scheme following the changes.‘ Reports Ladbible
The cost of the building with the developer came in at $322,400, along with a separate land purchase of $398,950.
But between the time the agreement was made in 2016 and work began, plans changed. And the plans for half a duplex were sent to Aryal but he didn’t read them before forwarding it to the bank.
“When the bank asked, I called them and said can you please send the plan and I forwarded the plan to the bank. I didn’t look,” Aryal said.
The developer said that the Liverpool Council demanded that the lot be an attached dwelling.
Also, Aryal doesn’t have an occupation certificate, which means he is not allowed to live in the house yet. Zac homes have been trying to get an occupation certificate for the past nine months.
But, the Liverpool Council and certifier want assurances that the other half of the house will be completed.
