Sampson The Service Dog Sports A PPE Suit To Assist His Owner In The Lab

Sampson is a service dog who’s a really good and smart boy, and honestly deserves all the treats in the world for learning an important new trick. What is it you ask? It’s how to wear PPE to help his disabled neuroscientist mom.

Joey Ramp does her lab work at the University of Illinois. She confesses that she wouldn’t have been able to do her job without her assistant’s help.

He’s the first dog, that too a service dog to have ever been granted access to the college’s chemistry lab. For safety reasons, Sampson, just like humans is required to wear protective gear. Doesn’t he look adorable?

According to PEOPLE, Joey Ramp was a former horse trainer who had an accident back in 2006. She ended up breaking 23 bones, injured her prefrontal cortex, and suffered permanent nerve damage. The nerve damage was isolated to almost the whole of the left half of her body. Here’s where Sampson the service dog came into picture because she needed him to function with day-to-day activities.

She shared with SWNS:

I couldn’t possibly navigate academics or a neuroscience program without his assistance. There’s more focus on the dog than the service they are providing, and they were barring an entire population of students from entering lab work and ultimately the STEM field.

Truth be told, he’s just like any other dog, just trained to be more understanding and empathetic to his hooman’s needs.

I really want people to start understanding that service dogs have a very high level of training. They provide independence and keep their handler healthy, happy, and able to go about life in ways they wouldn’t be able to do without their service dog.

People with disabilities do want to study science and to look at people with disabilities and service dog handlers with a view of making things more accessible to them is really important and it’s time.

He’s one of a kind and too damn cute. Their relationship is a unique one and it just melts our hearts.
